V-Sag - Fantasy Era

What do you get when you combine a greek producer (called V-Sag) with a japanese singer (under the name of: Tomomi Ukumori) and another north american hot chick dj/producer (called DJ Keri). You get a debute album from one of Greece finest progressive/electronic producers.

Vasilis Sagonas (aka V-Sag) was born on January 28, 1983 in Larissa, Greece. Music has always been a part of his life, having formed a strong understanding and appreciation for it even as a young child. His two older sisters, also passionate towards music, nurtured his enthusiasm and influenced his tastes from an early age. While growing up, he studied the piano for nearly 6 years, which formalized his knowledge of music theory. In 1998, he purchased his first computer to start composing his own electronic music.

Eight years later his debute album finaly see's light. "His vision is to express his feelings; to make people understand his music and the way he wants to feel when he is on the dancefloor. " quoted from this dj/producer. Sharing my personal view on this cd i simply cannot the fact that V-Sag has a beautifull way of expressing his feelings. It's been a while since I had a album with a lowtempo progressive sound. But managing to keep me listening again and again and again all over.

The variaty of tracks never get boring, there are no moments of skipping a track forward because it's one compleet tracklist with different productions. And therefor every single track sounds different but keeps you listening. That does not change the fact that this album sounds like a mixcd of tracks. Which can be considered a good thing, listening to the melodic intro track "V-Sag - A Day Before" brings up the right mood. One which can be considered as enjoying in a beautifull oase of nature. But after that V-Sag manages to lift it up a level every time a track changes to a higher atmosphere untill you feel like dancing in a club or at a rave.

One of the tracks which hypes the energy in your body is "V-Sag - Waterfall". Starting with a melodic guitar sound, you get taken away into a state of mind where it goes faster and harder. The vocals from DJ Keri are truly amazing, hearing those vocals on these tracks make you shiver.

It might seem to good to be true, but for a debute album this is magnificant. Every piece fits together and makes one perfect match.

V-Sag - Fantasy Era is a must have for every uplifting progressive lover. Are you a person who loves to dream away on melodic guitar strings followed by up-tempo beats surrounded by vocals from a hot chick and great dj/producer. Then this is your must have cd by V-Sag on the Planetworks label.

2005 CDS.

Tone Depth & Soultan

Tone Depth (aka The Greek) was born in Montreal in 1976 and soon after moved with his family to the island of Bahrain in the Persian Gulf. Tony began playing guitar at the age of 11, while living in Bahrain. After moving to Cyprus at the age of 14, he discovered that country’s club scene, where local DJs played out some of the latest house music coming out of Britain and America. These early encounters marked the beginning of what would be a life-long love affair with the driving rhythms and primal energy of house music. After a brief stint at Ryerson University in Toronto in 1994, Tony returned to Montreal and enrolled at the Musitechnic School, where he was instructed in basic production and digital recording techniques. He then went on to build his own studio and spent several years creating television scores for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and private broadcaster YTV.

During these formative years Tony focused most of his time towards producing many different types of music. His original intention being to produce electronic atmospheric music for his guitar based compositions. His productions under the guise "Terminal 4" featured Montreal vocal talent Melissa Glover and himself playing guitar over dubbed out excursions into Drum and Bass and Trip Hop. In 1998 Tony played a part time role in Quicksound, a local band which specialized in live percussive tribal house. At this point he began producing house music for fun and eventually took up DJing. As things progressed Tony slowly began shifting his focus more towards producing progressive house and eventually signed his first track to Sporadic Groove records in Boston.

By 2000 Tony began to take things a bit more seriously and ended up heading down to the Miami winter music conference to promote his new material and gain some exposure. A chance meeting with Paul Oakenfeld in the Miami airport resulted into being his first original production for Sporadic Groove Records being selected for the legendary Djs hugely successful Another World album. Further collaboration with Oakenfold led to many more opportunities. By the spring of 2001 thing really started to pick up. With his release "Rumblefish" on John Digweed’s well respected imprint Bedrock, Tone Depth was becoming to be one of the next young rising talents on the scene. Having to juggle remixing, production and DJing Tony finally decided to make House music his full time occupation. In winter 2001 Tone Depth teamed up with Montreal colleague Sultan. Their first production, "Sagres," featuring singer Stephanie Vezina, was signed by Alola Records and was soon licensed for Trendroid's "Transport 6"compilation.

Later that year Deep Dish fell under the spell of the duos irresistable rhythms and chose their "Rezin" and "Wadi" productions for the "Toronto" edition of its Global Underground series(their track Wadi also landed a spot on Paul Oakenfold’s Creamfields Compilation). Deep Dish ended up signing Tony to their record label as "The Greek" an alias he reserves exclusively for Yoshitoshi releases. "Alive," a solo track by Tone Depth under the alias The Greek, and a joint remix of "Flying" (Valentino) are also featured on this widely-acclaimed album.

Whether with Sultan or as a one-man act, Tone Depth (alias The Greek) has now contributed to more than twenty productions on various labels including Yoshitoshi, Bedrock, Perfecto, Alola, Ready Mix, Swift, Tao Records, and many others. As well as being extremely active in the studio, he continues to DJ with regular, high-energy sets at such world-renowned clubs as Stereo (Montreal), Bliss (Jakarta) and Venue (Greece).

Christian Cambas - Flight 403

Massive hit from 2004 released on Swift Records.

Christian Cambas

Christian Cambas is a producer/DJ from Athens, Greece. Being involved in music production professionally since 1998, he has shown his many production facets ranging from Drum&Bass to straight up Progressive House.

As a DJ while living in the U.S. and attending the Berkley College of Music, Christian was surrounded by House music, although he was primarily playing and producing Drum&Bass at the time. However, he never neglected his love for House and spent the greater duration of his stay in the U.S. working at a prestigious dance music record store.

Besides DJing, he set up his own Drum&Bass label, First Commandment Records, which released three singles, all of which were embraced warmly by both the U.S. and European markets.

Upon his return to Greece with a Music Production & Engineering degree in his hand, Christian started to get more involved in other styles of production, mainly after he started getting remix work for a seminal Greek record label.

Through remixing and working at a DJ booking agency he started focusing more on the progressive side of House music.

As a progressive house DJ, Christian found himself playing alongside DJs such as John Digweed, Carl Cox, Nick Warren, Sasha and many others, in definitive clubs and events around Greece. For two years, he held a monthly residency at +SODA in Athens. His touring schedule has included Romania, Turkey, Cyprus and numerous Greek cities and islands.

His productions are currently being supported by John Digweed, Sasha, and most respected DJs in the progressive house scene. He has released records on various labels such as John Digweed’s Bedrock and G.Pal’s Swift Records. As a remixer, Christian has remixed renowned artists such as G.Pal and massive club hits such as Anarcrusan’s “In My Mind” (Shinichi/Yoshitoshi Records).

2004 found Christian getting placed at #154 of the DJ Mag Top 100 Poll; a first for any Greek DJ.

Besides producing and remixing, Christian also teaches a college-level Music Technology course.

Liberto - Lullaby

Lefteris Kalabakas aka Liberto completed his studies in classic guitar at a young age and started collecting rock & metal records and playing with various groups. As he grew up he started approaching different music styles such as jazz rock and fusion. His first personal sounds were created by combining the above with the contemporary rock and metal of the time. Later on, at around 17, amalgams of electronic and natural sounds started to lure him towards electronic music and he started experimenting with computers and sequencers, collecting albums and DJing. His influences range from Eloy, Graig Armstrong, Kevin Yost, James Holden, Hiroshi Watanabe, The Timewriter, Murcof, F.S.O.L, Biosphere, Mathew Johnson, John Tejada, Swayzak.

On September 18, Klik Records welcomes a new artist in its roster and presents Liberto with his debut album "Lullaby", one of the four artist projects that will be released until the end of 2006.

"Lullaby" has a deep and tech house sound. It's sometimes deep and emotional, sometimes intense and dance-y. Minimal philosophy, dubby long players in a cinematic background with some noisy elements... With his debut, Liberto manages to create his personal sound. His particularity in combining deep and tech house music makes his sound unique within the competitive field of European releases.

Anna Maria X

It was back in 1996 when Anna Maria started her journey into music. After a brief stint working as label manager for BMG Greece, she quickly moved to KLIK FM, which was at the time the highest rated radio station in Greece. Her preference in dance music soon moved her to the weekend slot where for the last 6 years she puts people in a clubbing mood every Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 1 at night. The show being a reference point to all dance music lovers has brought her in contact with some of the greatest djs in the world who usually stop by for a quick live set before their gigs.

Even though the radio has always been the number one priority in Anna Maria's work life, she has occasionally flirted with television always doing shows dealing with all aspects of dance music, the last one of which being a three year stint at Mad TV every night, presenting Heineken Zone, a show introducing all that was new in dance music, as well as interviews with international and local djs. That was where she met her husband and father of her daughter, G.Pal. During all these she found the time to hold a weekly to monthly residency at Greece's premier dance club, Soda, playing sets ranging from tribal/tech house to progressive. During those nights she made a point of introducing the 'new talent' slots giving the opportunity for the first time in 2001, to young aspiring djs to try their luck in the booth of the infamous Soda. In 2002, right after the release of G.Pal feat. Anna Maria X- 'Ocean Of Blue', a lot of things started happening together. First of all, the track found its way to some of the greatest djs in the world sets like Sasha, Digweed, Creamer and K, Saeed and Palash.

At the same time she released her first mix compilation AMX-Believer, which reached number 4 in the official IFPI sales chart, was awarded 'best female Dj/performer' in the Athens Dance Music awards.
